ELITE POINTS: 2
The Striking Scorpion Squad is an elite Eldar squad in Dawn of War III, classified as assassins. The melee infantry squad excels at ambushing targets. They can enter a special state of health that allows them to detect the presence of enemies at long range before leaping on them.
Abilities[]
- Leap Strike (active): The Striking Scorpions jump to the target position, causing Damage and Slow in a small circle. Range of Leap Strike increases while in stealth cover or Hunt is active
- Hunt (active): The Striking Scorpions go into Stealth, creating a cloud of smoke that acts as Stealth Cover. While active their senses are heightened, increasing Attack Damage, Speed, and displays enemies outside their sight range even if they are in Fog of War, stealth or High Ground
- Mandiblasters (passive): While not in melee the Scorpions occasionally fire their Mandiblasters. Causes Damage and Slow.
- Critical Strike (passive): Scorpions do a Critical Strike every 6th attack.
- Fleet of Foot (passive): Gain shield regeneration and speed within the area of effect of a Webway Gate
- Striking Scorpion's Presence - Hunters (Initial Doctrine): When Striking Scorpions activate Hunt, Howling Banshees in a Circle gain the ability
- Striking Scorpion's Command - Vyper's Sting (Unlockable Doctrine): While Scorpions are summoned Vyper missiles explode on hit, causing Slow and Damage in a circle. Can unlock as a full Doctrine at level 8.
General Notes[]
A cheap Elite, and you get what you pay for. Not much stronger than an upgraded Banshee squad, the Scorpions can do reasonable damage in melee and can ambush from stealth. However, being a 5-man infantry squad, dedicated AoE anti-infantry weapons will absolutely ruin them, particularly the heavy ranged weapons teams of the three factions and they honestly aren't extremely tough even in melee.
