The Battle Sister Squad is the basic ranged infantry of the Sisters of Battle in Dawn of War: Soulstorm.
Description[]

Just like the Tactical Squad is the back bone of the Space Marines, the Battle Sisters serve as the main basic troops for the Sisters of Battle.
- Flamers have short range and moderate damage, but will quickly wreck enemy morale, making infantry very ineffective.
- Heavy bolters have long range and great damage against infantry, but cannot be fired while moving and require a short setup time to fire.
There are several global upgrades that apply to Battle Sister Squads.
Instead of the Space Marine's frag grenades, the battle Sisters use Phosphorous grenades which sets units ablaze and gradually wounds and decreases morale to any enemy squad affected by this. This goes along with the Sororitas' preference toward "purifying" flame and melta weaponry.
Battle Sister Squad[]
"All but the faithful shall perish"
The holy avengers of the Emperor's glory, Battle Sisters cause dread in the souls of sinners across the vast galaxy. Highly trained and adaptable to the changing conditions of the battlefield, the Battle Sisters have access to a broad range of weapon upgrades and are more than a match for any Infantry and Heavy Infantry units that dares stand against them.
Tactics[]
Battle Sister Squads are a vital part of any Sisters of Battle force at all levels. While not as strong as comparable infantry, Battle Sisters even the odds because they are perfect for using Acts of Faith. Additionally with Flamers and Phosphor Grenades Battle Sisters can quickly devastate enemy morale which stops enemy infantry from dealing much damage. To ensure that Battle Sisters' own morale does not break (thereby returning the advantage to the enemy), make use of the Seraphim Squad's Angelic Visage ability or if that is unavailable, Laud Hailers from base buildings.
In Tier 1 building a Pristine Sanctuary to access Flamers is essential because their Bolters are weak. Missionaries are the ideal accompaniment to a Battle Sisters squad, as they will no longer be able to be independently targeted and can provide healing with Lay Hands. Against melee units be sure to dance your Battle Sisters and break their morale before they can engage.
In Tier 2 the "Emperor's Touch" Act of Faith is key. This ability from the Missionary leader allows the whole squad of Battle Sisters to be used for early anti-vehicle attacks. Note that the squad also gains access to both Heavy Bolters and an increase in Heavy Weaponry. Generally you should have more squads with Flamers than Heavy Bolters, with no mixing in a squad due to the vastly different nature of the two weapons. While Heavy Bolters can be a good choice for a squad lacking an accompanying Missionary, as their reduced survivability requires them to be kept further from the battle. Battle Sisters, however, fully equipped with Flamers makes them the fastest means to instantly demoralize enemies. Bear this in mind because the Sisters of Battle specialize more in breaking and restoring morale in comparison to other races.
When engaging massed enemy units, a Battle Sister squad using Acts of Faith: Emperor's Touch may attack a little bit from behind allied units as Emperor's Touch itself has medium range. Use this to prevent that specific Battle Sister squad from being targeted by enemies and killing them before the Emperor's Touch pays off. You may also use this tactic with a Battle Sister squad upgraded with Heavy Bolters and use Sister Repentia squads with Divine Retribution to ensure their safety and all-out damage output.
In Tier 3 and beyond Battle Sisters become less important as Sister Repentia Squads and Immolators usurp their roles as front line infantry and morale breakers, respectively. They remain useful and by no means should be fazed out, but they cannot be relied on as the main body of your force like the more versatile Space Marine Squads can. While there will be more powerful Acts of Faith available, the Missionary still remains a powerful attachment to the squad.
Bug: if a heavy weapon upgrade is started and then Emperor's Touch is used on the squad before the weapon upgrade is complete, the added heavy weapon will be removed once the Emperor's Touch ability ends. This also permanently lowers the maximum number of heavy weapon upgrades. Using Emperor's Touch again will reset the counter and allow the heavy weapon to be added.
Base weapons[]
Battle Sisters are equipped with a Bolter and a Knife, making them balanced at range and weak at close combat.
Ranged attacks are good against Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Light Buildings (Listening Posts, turrets, standard generators, mine fields) and Medium Daemons at range ; but, due to weak Base Damage, they have an edge only on Imperial Guardsmen Lasguns and Eldar guns (Guardians' Shuriken Platforms and Rangers' Long Rifles). A full members squad (10 units) rarely matches a full ennemy ranged squad.
Melee attacks are simply weak, being only stronger than Eldars (Guardians, Rangers, Dark Reapers), and so should be avoided.

These upgrades can be purchased from squad's menu. They remains until the beneficiary unit dies ; if so, the unit and/or the upgrade has to be purchased again.
Reinforcement[]
After a 6-seconds delay, adds a Battle Sister in the squad, at the cost of 35 / 0. Limited to 10 Sisters (not including eventually rattached unit nor Veteran Superior ; thus, the squad can be composed of 12 units at maximum). Shorcut : R.
Veteran Superior[]
Adds a Tiers 2 leader to the squad. Powerful melee unit on her own, upgraded (Inferno Pistol, Power Sword) or not (Bolt Pistol, Chainsword), she also permanently boosts her squad's Morale and damages through her innate, permanent and non-visible Leadership passive (used in weapon charts), until of course she dies.

Flamer[]
Exchange a Sister's Bolter for a Flamer, making her attacks have an AoE and boosted Morale damage. The main goal is to break ennemy's Morale, which makes him loose a huge 80% of his accuracy ; otherwise, damages are rather similar to standard Bolter, but with an AoE. Squad can only have 3 special weapons, including whatever combination of Flamers AND Heavy Bolters. Limit can be increased to 5 with Heavy Weapons Upgrade research.

Missionary[]
Missionary provides stealth detection and a moderate melee fighter to Battle Sister Squad. His main interests are his abilities, which all applies on the entire squad he's rattached to : he can heal the squad with Lay Hands on Tiers 1, greatly boost entire squad firepower with Emperor's Touch Bolter on Tiers 2, and making squad immune to damage and even retaliate damages on Tiers 3 ; assuming the player has enough Faith and Holy Icons to do so.

Canonness[]

Confessor[]
Confessor gives a very powerful melee fighter, a stealth detection and a slight 15% speed boost (not limited to the squad, but in a radius 15 from Confessor) to the squad. His two Acts of Faith (Emperor's Wrath and Holy Edict) are direct attacks against ennemies, thus don't apply to the squad, unlike the Missionary ones.
