Dawn of War Wiki

The Imperial Guardsman is a basic infantry unit of the Imperial Guard in Dawn of War. They are only available in the campaign and can not be replaced once a squad is lost.

The basic Imperial Guard infantry unit, Guardsmen are weak but numerous and reinforce for a cheap 20 requisition. They start off with mediocre lasguns but can be upgraded with grenade launchers or plasma guns effective against infantry and heavy infantry, respectively. When Guardsmen are available it's advisable to keep them behind your Marines as their health and morale are quite low and make them inferior front line soldiers. From the back, they can provide a decent amount of supporting fire.
